Chapter One

Alice sat in the chair in front of Sam's desk, waiting for him to come with her reports.

Sam is Alice's regular doctor and whenever she gets sick, she comes to him every time.

Alice was feeling sick today. She was in her office enjoying the weather, and suddenly she felt nauseous and about to faint. So she came for a check up.

The office door opened and Sam walked in.

"Hey there Alice, How are you feeling now?" He asked her.

"I'm feeling fine now. Thank you for asking. So everything's okay with me, right?" Alice asked.

"Everything's fine, don't worry. I have wonderful news for you, Alice." Sam said with a full smile.

Alice wondered what good news he was talking about, so she asked him what was he talking about.

"You are two weeks pregnant Alice. Congrats." Sam replied.

Alice could not be more surprised in her life after hearing the news.

She was married to Jordan Smith, who was the son of one of the four biggest families in this city, for three months now.

Alice had mixed feeling about her pregnancy as her husband, Jordan didn't love her. He didn't even like her.

Now she was pregnant with Jordan's baby and didn't know how Jordan was going to take this news.

He might even get angry at her because he thought Alice planned to sleep with him to get pregnant with his baby.

But Alice had a crush on Jordan since the age of ten. And when she was told she was going to marry Jordan, she couldn't believe it.

She was so happy that she was going to be Jordan's wife and will be with him for her rest of the life.

But Jordan didn't feel the same. He despised her. He was close to her sister Chloe as she used to give him pillow talks.

"Alice, are you there?" Sam asked chuckling and brought Alice out of her thoughts.

She looked at him for a moment to remember what was he saying.

Sam understood Alice was not listening to him so he repeated himself.

"I was saying where's your husband? You should've brought him with you."

Alice felt a bit embarrassed as she lied to Sam saying.

"He had some office work so he couldn't make it here. But he'll pick me up later."

Sam nodded and held out Alice's pregnancy report. Alice took it from Sam.

"Come again for your check up. And take care of yourself more from now on. Eat more food as there's another life inside you, so you'll need more energy from now on. You can go now and I'll see you next week. Is that alright?" Sam asked.

Alice nodded and stood up.

"Thank you Sam, I'll see you soon." Alice said and walked out of Sam's office.

In the hallway, Alice got lost in her thoughts of how she'll tell Jordan about her pregnancy and he's going to react.

When she walked out of the hospital, she decided to tell Jordan about her pregnancy.

Hesitating, she took out her phone and dialed Jordan's number.

It rang, but he didn't pick up. She again called, but he still didn't pick up.

She decided to drop a message, hoping he'll read the text and call her back.

So she texted him telling him that she was pregnant and is at the hospital wondering if he could come and pick her up.

She waited, and a few minutes later, her phone rang.

It was Jordan. She smiled and felt happy, as Jordan rarely called her.

She picked up the phone, still smiling like a fool.

"Where are you?" Jordan shouted into the phone.

"City Hospital." Alice replied.

"Wait there. I'm on my way to the hospital." Jordan said and hung up the phone.

Alice was more than happy. She started to think that maybe Jordan was happy to hear that she was pregnant.

Because he called her and now he's even coming to the hospital to pick her.

She thought perhaps her being pregnant can bring her and Jordan close to each other.

An hour passed, but Jordan still didn't come. Alice was waiting for him outside the hospital.

After a while, she heard a car being pulled. She looked in that direction and saw that it was Jordan.

She smiled when she saw him getting off his car. He was in his blue suit, which made his blue eyes shine even more.

His brown hairs were slicked back, but a few strands of his stubborn hairs were touching his eyebrows, which made him look even more handsome.

Jordan looked around and then saw Alice standing outside the hospital. Jordan made his way towards her, and in long strikes, stood in front of her.

"You're here, I thought you won't come because of the work." Alice said, smiling, as she couldn't contain her happiness.

"What were you thinking, messaging such a ridiculous thing?" Jordan said in a bitter tone.

Alice got surprised by Jordan's bitter tone and took a little step back.

"I..."

But Jordan didn't let her speak as he continued.

"Don't you dare joke about something like that I'm warning you." Jordan said, pointing a dangerous finger in Alice's direction.

"But I'm not lying, I'm telling you the truth." Alice tried to convince Jordan. She couldn't believe that Jordan would think that she was lying.

"Stop lying. I know you're faking your pregnancy, so you can get close to me. Is this also one of your silly tricks like before? Like how you plotted to sleep with me?" Jordan shouted at her.

Alice was now heartbroken. She was also tricked into having sex with Jordan. She didn't plot anything against him.

She tried to convince him that she was also tricked, but he didn't believe her.

"I'm not lying. Jordan, just go inside and ask the doctor. And here's the report. I'm really not lying. Believe me, will you?" Alice tried again, as she now was on the verge of crying.

She held out the report to Jordan, which was given to her by Sam.

Jordan snatched the report from Alice, and without even looking at them, tore it apart in pieces. He flung the pieces of paper at Alice, who was now crying.

"I don't believe you, and I never will. So stop playing your stupid tricks on me. Do you understand?" He said in an even more angry tone.

"But I'm not..."

Before Alice could've finished, Jordan cut her off by shouting at her.

"Stop it. Don't you dare call or message me. I have more important business to attend to, than be a part of these silly tricks of yours." he said and turned around to walk back towards his car.

Alice noticed Jordan going back to his car, so she hurried and followed him.

"Wait...." she called out to Jordan.

He stopped in his tracks and turned around, getting annoyed with Alice.

"What is it now?" he asked her.

"Can you at least give me a ride back to home?" Alice asked him.

"I can't even stand you for a minute. How do you expect me to tolerate you for a whole ride home? I'm not taking you with me anywhere." he replied.

"But it's getting late, and I came here in a taxi." Alice said, forcing herself to not cry even more.

"I don't care if you came here in a taxi or not. Just leave me alone and don't disturb me again." He said and walked away.

Jordan got into his car and drove away, leaving Alice alone on the road.

Alice was now crying as Jordan's words broke her heart.

She was so happy a few minutes ago, thinking about how Jordan was coming to pick her up.

But now he left her in the middle of the road knowing that she doesn't have her car to drive back home.

She even thought that after hearing her pregnancy news he'll come around and give her a chance to get close to him.

But all her expectations were now ruined. It was all her wishful thinking.

Alice stood at the same spot and watched the empty space where Jordan parked his car, and now it was gone.

Alice waited there for a while hoping Jordan will come back to pick her up.

After a while, she started getting tired so she walked forward hoping to get a taxi.

She opened her phone to call a cab but noticed that her phone's battery was dead and it switched off.

She cursed her luck as more tears started to pour out of her eyes.

She felt exhausted and depressed. She instinctively touched her belly and another wave of sadness flowed through her.

She tried to stop her from crying for the sake of her baby.

And after deliberately convincing herself to stop, she finally stopped.

She promised herself that she'll take good care of herself and born a safe and healthy baby.

Suddenly a car stopped.

"Alice..."

She heard someone calling her name and looked up.
