Capture The Grim Reaper

'Grim reaper? As in death?' Sebastian questioned himself mentally. What exactly was his master getting at. He wasn't planning on using Michael as a lab rat, was he?

'No, he couldn't. He wouldn't dare' He tried to convince himself. He knew this man was capable of things he wasn't yet aware of, but gambling on someone's life in a game he couldn't possibly win was just sheer ruthlessness. It was unthinkable.

"I don't understand Marcelo. You want to capture death?" Sebastian asked just for clarification. The sentence still sounded strange to him, and he would need to hear it one more time for it to really sink in.

"You heard me Sebastian. I won't repeat myself" Marcelo replied with a flat tone.

"You said the curse was supposed to last for three days right?" Marcelo inquired despite knowing the answers already.

"Yes" Sebastian confirmed while nodding at the same time.

"Which means that by midnight he would die" Marcelo deciphered. He had to make preparations if he really wanted this to work, but before then he had to speak with one more person. Whatever this Michael of a person agreed with was what he was going to do. If this stranger was willing to risk his life to save thousands of others, then he would gladly carry on with his plans. But if he refused, then he would rid him of his curse and send him away the next morning.

"Master, you don't plan on using Michael, do you?" Sebastian asked. This time around with his casual tone. If he tried to ask with a polite tone, then his master wouldn't take him seriously. He wanted to know what was going on, and if he wanted answers he had to be serious with his questions.

Marcelo's eyes locked on with his and they maintained eye contact for a brief moment. He could see that condescending look in his master's eyes, but he refused to be intimidated. Once he wavered or yielded even a bit to his master's stare, then he was not getting an answer. He had stood his ground this time around and Marcelo had no choice but to answer him.

"It's non of your business Sebastian. Go to bed" Marcelo dismissed before walking past the frozen boy.

Sebastian stood without motion for about two minutes before finally getting a hold of himself. This was one of the reasons why he shouldn't get attached to people. He had just spent few hours with Michael and they had become friends in such a short time. Michael was as open as ever, and despite his entire life revolving around bad activities, he was actually a kind hearted person. He didn't know him that much, but he was sure he didn't want the boy to die.

He knew his master could be cold sometimes, but wasn't he being a little too extreme this time around. He was sure this fantasy of capturing the grim reaper was fueled because of his obsession for bringing the Quinns down. This obsession was stealing away the little humanity left in his master and he wasn't liking it one bit.

He sat aside and watched his master converse with Michael. He knew the boy would give in to anything Marcelo said without a second thought. Michael had already given up on life, and with the idea of his death being the hope of Bornville's redemption, the boy was sure to agree to anything Marcelo threw at him.

He was angry, at both himself and his master. It was his fault that Michael was going to die. If only he hadn't been a little more forgiving and less selfish, then the boy wouldn't even be here in the first place. He had chosen material things over a human life and now the after effects were haunting him.

Marcelo couldn't hide his bewildered expression. For the first time in many years, he had been caught off guard. This boy's answer had completely thrown him off his feet and he couldn't believe them entirely. He had agreed without persuasion, and hadn't even asked for anything in return if he survived. Sebastian had already told him that the boy had given up on life, but he didn't believe the boy until now. This boy was something else and his cheerfulness towards death was a little bit scary.

Marcelo didn't repeat his question. He didn't want a change of mind or any contradictions to their agreement. He knew he was being selfish but he didn't really care. Even if it meant throwing away his humanity, then he was ready to do it as long as the end result lead to the downfall of the Quinns.

Every condition was met now, and all that was left was preparation for the biggest moment of his life. He had been waiting for a day like this and it was finally here. There was no way he was letting this opportunity pass him by, failing was not an option. He couldn't fail, he won't fail. This could be his one and only chance to bring the Quinns down for good and there was no way in the world he was going to mess it up.

He walked past the still standing Sebastian without saying a word to him. This was one of the reasons he couldn't allow the boy take on exorcism works on his own. He was still weak, both physically and emotionally, and if he was to encounter a powerful spirit or demon, then there would be trouble.

He understood that the boy was still young and had a fragile heart, but he was a Quinn now, and Quinns were known to be strong and heartless. He was a disappointment compared to the rest of the family.

Marcelo headed straight for his bathroom after the discussion to cool himself down a bit. Rebecca had already gone to bed and was snoring lightly. He pitied her a little before getting back to what he had come for. He had roughly three hours before midnight, but it was enough time to get himself prepared.

He would spend the first hour reciting and learning more powerful binding prayers; The second hour would be for getting whatever he needed ready and set, while the remaining few minutes would be for a quick meditation. He had full confidence in himself and could almost smell his victory, but decided to be pessimistic. He was going up against a powerful being, an archangel or something even stronger. Getting cocky and overconfident was something he couldn't risk and that was why the meditation was crucial.
