Kaiden's Point of View
“What's wrong with mate?” Did we scare her that much?” Slade asked with worry laced in his voice, already feeling dejected.
I sighed as I stared at her lean figure, and my eyes hardened immediately I set eyes on the bruises on her body. I felt like destroying something.
I could feel my body trembling, but I was forced to control myself due to the fact that I was holding my mate between my hands……. After all these years.
“Let’s mark mate!” Slade demanded impatiently.
“Slade! Keep your wolf urges down. How can you think of marking her in this state?” I snapped, my teeth gritting together.
“But we’ve waited so long for her. Now that we’ve found her, what are we waiting for?” His voice strained as he fought to gain control, but I pushed him back, using every ounce of my will to hold him at bay.
“I understand your frustration, Slade. I bear this curse too. Our mate is currently in a bad state, if we attempt to mark her now that she's in this shape, she's bound to die. Are you willing to lose her? After all we passed through to find her? Are you willing to let her slip through our hands?” I asked him and he whimpered in response and
I felt him slip into the back of my mind.
I sighed as I took another look at her, and then, as gently as I could, carried her as I raced to the pack house. As I stepped inside, a chill seeped through the air, sinking into my skin. The silence here was heavy, pressing down like a warning. Shadows stretched across the empty hallways, the dim lights casting an eerie glow. Everything felt cold and hollow, a stark contrast to the warmth of her frail body in my arms.
Once in my room, I laid her down on the bed, my eyes adjusting to the dim light that barely illuminated the space. The faint glow cast shadows across her bruised skin, each mark dark against her pale complexion. The silence was thick, punctuated only by her shallow breaths—a fragile sound that stirred something primal in me.
“I need you to come here within the next ten minutes, any delay would cost you, your head”I ordered the pack doctor through the mind-link.
“Yes, alpha. I'll be there as quick as I can”, he replied and I cut off the connection.
That's one of the special abilities we, werewolves have. The ability to be able to communicate with each other from afar just with our mind.
A few minutes later, a knock sounded on the door. “Your Highness, may I come in?” Lewis asked hesitantly.
“Come in” I grunted in response, his movements seeming too loud in the oppressive quiet. Each rustle and clink of his tools grated against my nerves. Even the faint glow of his lantern felt invasive, piercing the dark like an unwelcome presence.
“Your Highness, may I see where you're hurt?” He asked and I felt Slade stir angrily.
“Do I look like I need a doctor's help?”
“Did I say anything wrong, Alpha” Lewis asked as he shifted back uncomfortably.
“You're not here for me, but for her” I said as I pointed to the bed, I could feel him tense up immediately he laid eyes on Snowy, I don't know her name. So I came up with that based on her starlight white hair and fair skin.
I could see that he has lots of questions to ask but he simply smiled and walked over to her. He checked her vitals and a deep frown settled on his face.
“I’m finding it hard to locate her pulse. The little I can feel is dangerously weak,” he murmured, glancing nervously my way.
“Then do something, that's why you're here. Do your job”, I growled at him.
“She has lost a lot of blood, she needs a blood transfusion. But first, I would have to get this dress off…..” I growled slightly as I cut him off with a glare.
“You would do no such thing. Leave, I'll call you in once I've changed her clothes” he bowed and left the room.
I carried her to the bathroom, drew a warm and soothing bath for her, the room filled with steam, but the chill that clung to me didn’t let up. I ran the cloth over her bruised skin, the warmth of the water a temporary shield against the darkness that lingered just outside the door. Each scar seemed to come alive in the shadows, whispering of the pain she’d endured.
I traced the rough edges of scars, each one telling a story I wasn’t ready to hear. Her shallow breaths filled the silence, each one faint as though it might be her last. I clenched my fists, claws pricking my skin, a silent promise that whoever had dared harm her would pay in blood.
Once she was clean, I wrapped her in fresh clothes, then called the doctor back. “You can check her now, but mind how you touch her,” I warned, watching him intently.
“Of course, your Highness.” He said as he started cleaning her wounds.
Few minutes later, after stopping her wounds from bleeding, he turned to me and said. “Your Highness, from the scars and wounds on her body. It seems that, she has passed through years of beating and torture. She looks really malnourished, and it'll be a miracle if she survives this” Lewis muttered as he started at Snowy with pity.
I clenched my fists tightly, with my claws digging deep into my palm, drawing blood, imagining it as the head of those who has done this to my mate.
“I'll make sure to make all the people who has done this to mate pay” Slade declaration with killing intent and I nodded in agreement.
“And also, concerning the blood transfusion. Her blood type is rare and I'm afraid to say that without it, she might not make it through the night”, Lewis added as he clearly measured his words.
“Take mine,” I rolled up my sleeves and stretched out my hands to him. I also have special blood, and she being my mate would definitely make my blood the best choice fur her.
“It's a much, take as much as you want, do your job and make sure she survives. If anything happens to her, you'll pay for it with your head and that if your entire family” I warned and he quickly nodded and started the transfusion.
I sat beside her, gently stroking her hair while watching Lewis intensely to make sure he did no mistakes.
About three hours later, the transfusion was done, I found myself lost in her beauty, though unconscious, she was looking so beautiful and her complexion was starting to improve.
Immediately Lewis left, I mind-linked Caspian to come over.
“Caspian, there's someone important that you need to meet”
