chapter 1
"Baby?" I called when I got back to the place I came from before, but I didn't get there.
"Where are you, baby?" I even looked around to see the people at a mall restaurant where we are now.
Where is he now?
I walked out of the restaurant in shock and my eyes widened as I looked around at the sea of people.
"Baby? Where are you? Come back here. This is not a good joke," I repeatedly said as I walked in front of the restaurant.
I can't just leave here because he might come back here and we'll get into trouble. I will have a harder time finding him.
"Where are you?" I whispered to myself and I wanted to cry but I suppressed the emotion, and kept looking around near the restaurant.
In the middle of my walk it was as if I was drenched in cold water when I saw a very familiar man bravely walking towards my seat.
Trembling welled up in my chest for no inexplicable reason.
Why is he here?
What is he doing here?
Did he follow me here?
Looking for?
How did he find me?
He was close to where I was standing but I looked like a statue where I was standing because I could not move. I really want to run but I can’t.
His physique became more refined and expanded in the five years I had not seen him. The more the pomp cried out to him. His presence is even more intimidating.
Shit!
"Mommy! Mommy!" I close my eyes when I hear that voice.
Why still here?
I was about to leave my position when our eyes met. His cold stare that still gives what effect to me.
"Mommy!" I blinked and my eyes fell on my son pulling the hem of my dress.
"Yes, baby?" I squatted in front of him and rubbed his soft cheeks. "Where have you been, Zeirode?"
He immediately sniffed and hugged me. I smiled because of that.
"I'm sorry, Mommy! I saw a mascot outside that's why I left ..." he said.
My smile widened even more when I saw the sad face of my very handsome son.
"It's okay. Just don't do that again, okay? You should wait for me next time," I reminded.
His face lit up because of what I said.
"You're not mad at Zeirode?" he innocently asked me.
I shook. "Of course not, my baby."
I stopped talking to my son when I heard a loud squeal from behind me.
"Who is he, Mommy?" my son asked rudely.
I want to laugh at the way he asks. He doesn't look like a five -year -old.
"I don't know, baby. Let me handle this, okay?" I said softly to him.
"Alright. Make it fast, Mom," she said.
I was just shaken. I already know who my son inherited this from. I stopped again when someone sniffed my back again and the shiver returned to my chest.
"Uh ... what can I do for you, Sir?" I asked formally even though my heart was beating so fast.
The corner of his lip rose. I raised my eyebrows because of that. What was his problem with what I asked?
"Zreinessa Nerillano." His mention of my name was as if some kind of electricity had flowed through my being. "It's been years."
I was swallowed. "Sir Tredore Reverio, yes, it's been years. It's nice seeing you here."
He laughed slightly. "Who's with you?"
My chest throbbed even harder because of his question but I answered him with courage.
"Zeirode Nerillano, my son," I introduce my son.
"It's not nice meeting you. You may now leave us," my son said coldly.
My eyes widened because of that and I immediately scolded my son.
"Rode," I called to him.
He looked up at me angrily. "Are you not yet done talking? You said that you don't know him, right? And you also said, that 'Don't talk to strangers.'"
I was almost stunned at the length of what he said. Is my son really only five years old?
I tried to smile at Tredore. "Don't mind my son. I'm sorry for that ..."
I was nervous to see my son's attention.
No ...
He can't know ...
I don't want to have a connection with him again ... with them ...
My son can never ...
Even if you are still his father, you can't ...
"My dear brother, I really need your help ..." Ate held my two hands tightly and squeezed them.
We are now in my room and repeatedly asking me for help about her problem.
"Ate Cray ..." I complained carefully. "It's too hard because what you're making me do ..."
Ate Cray sighed and bowed slightly. He still held my two hands tightly as if he really didn't want to lose hope in scratching me.
"Zrei, promise, this is the last favor I ask." He met my eyes again. There are still traces of his pleading. "Just give me what I want, hmm?"
I let out a deep sigh. I don't really agree with what he wants me to do. From any angle, I don't really agree, but no matter what I say to Ate Cray, she doesn't listen. He still insists on what wants to happen.
"I love Tredore so much ... I don't want to lose him to me, Zrei. I feel sorry for you to help me ..." he said crying.
"Sister ... you know I don't agree with what you want to happen," I said.
"Zrei, I won't ask you to do this if I can get pregnant ..." she said softly and tears started to fall on her cheeks.
My chest ached because of that. It was only a few days ago when we learned of Ate Cray’s situation. According to the doctor we went to, Ate had a kidney complication and was unlikely to get pregnant. Ate Cray was very hurt because of that. There was never a night that he didn't cry because of that. He also told me that something had happened to them and Tredore several times but that he wasn't even pregnant so he thought of getting a checkup.
"Ate ..." I just said.
She was already bent over and kept crying. I am hurt for Ate's condition. There was nothing I could do to alleviate the pain she was feeling.
Is this the signal for me to agree to what he wants to happen?
"Zrei ... I'm begging you. When Tredore finds out I can't get pregnant ... he'll leave me!" he shouted.
"It's still not right, Ate ..." I said weighing.
He shook his head.
"Zrei. Will you still think about your principles? Don't you want to help me at all?" crying he says.
"It's not like that, Ate ..." I defended.
"You're making me feel like you don't want to help me, Zrei ..." he said full of resentment.
"No, Ate," I snapped. "I was just thinking there might be another way."
He met my eyes. "Tell me, Zrei, is there any other way? Do you want another woman to do what I'm asking you to do?"
I fell silent.
"It hurts so much for me that I'll leave it to you and then you want me to have another woman do it ?!" His voice rose so I was startled.
My heartbeat quickened. Just now Ate shouted at me. Throughout our togetherness we were really close and just as on fingers the times we didn’t get along.
"I'm sorry ... I didn't mean to shout at you, Zrei ..." he said sincerely.
I swallowed hard. I almost agreed to what he wanted me to do, but I wondered what could happen to me if I finally agreed.
I knew the moment I gave the answer he expected, I had nothing to lose. I will also be in trouble. There will be no certainty of everything that happens next in my life.
I sighed deeply and gripped Ate's hands tightly which were still holding my hands.
"I agree," I said holding my breath
