Chapter 5

A WEEK LATER

HAYDEN

I can't believe it's been a week now since I came back to the state. It's still the same as I left it but the only thing that didn't change one bit was Dad. That man is on my case and it's always the same thing since I left. I rolled my eyes thinking about his wish for me.

I was done bathing and getting ready for work. I live alone in my penthouse. I have workers around and most time my friends come around for a visit. We are named as the youngest millionaires. I don't mean to be too proud but we all have our business and money and everything is going smoothly for us. I was fully dressed in my suit.

I put on my wristwatch and then made my way down the stairs for breakfast. The maids greeted me as they sighted me. I nodded and made my way to the dining area.

I was served some coffee without toast bread. I picked up the magazine which was lying on the table. The lost man always delivers it to my home cos I don't want to miss out on any news. As a businessman, I need to be wary of my environment and this helps me to know more prominent individuals.

I opened the front page and what I saw surprised me. I had a smile on my face. It was a photo of Max and a lady. I'm sure she is his new girlfriend. If only this lady knew how he is very familiar with ladies. Max is my friend and we have known each other since college.

What was even more surprising was the fact that it was stated in the magazine that he was getting married to the said lady . " are you kidding me ?" I laughed " This can't be real ?"

I was in disbelief. Who would have thought that he would finally get to settle down? I'm sure this is because of the intervention of his parent. I won't be surprised to know that his father put him up to it just like mine is trying to force me to get married.

The more I think about Dad constantly trying to push me to get married, the more angry I become. I don't think I'll ever get married. All I want is my youthful life. Most of those ladies are gold diggers. They only want money so the better I stay away from marriage the better for me. I rather bring home a lady I want to have sex with rather than get married.

I dropped the magazine and drank my coffee. I was my boss so there was no need for a rush. I will go to the office on my own time. It took me a few more minutes before I was done with my food. I got up and made my way out of the house.

My black car was packed outside and the driver was already waiting for me. He opened the door for me to get inside and also went into the driver's seat to drive me to the company.

I was busy with my phone till we got to the company. There are so many unread messages from mom and dad. Those two won't let me be. Dad wants me to get married or he sets me up with one of his friend's daughters. Thinking about it makes me angry. I can't be set up with a lady I despise

The driver packed the car where he was supposed to pack it

I shook the thought away and dropped my phone in my phone pocket. I got out of the car and made my way to the office. I went inside and my secretary rushed to take my bag.

" good morning sir "

"Morning sir"

I was greeted by most of my employees. I nodded at them and went to the elevator with my secretary. Well, she would soon be my ex-worker cos she told me she was going to be leaving the state cos she was getting married.

I didn't say much to her. I told her to do what was right for her and she had made her decision. It's time I get a new secretary. That would be until she finally leaves.

I finally got to my office. The secretary dropped my bag and went off. I was all alone again. I went to stand by the window and stared through it. I smiled at how far I've grown this company. It's been one of my wishes since I was in college. I've always wanted to be the most feared CEO in the world. I want to rule my world and gradually my wish is coming to pass. I love the fact that I get to give orders the way I like without anyone coming my way.

The surprising thing is, that not a lot of people know me much cos I hate to be published in most magazines but I think it's high time the whole world knows who I was. They've heard about me but haven't seen the face behind the name. I smiled ready to see how they take it.

I've been moving like a commoner but now I was back. I was done with my research and now I know how to serve the people so well

"whoever tries to stop me should be ready for war cos I'm going to give them that " I smirked.

My phone rang in my pocket. I picked it out and saw who was calling. I groaned when I saw who it was. It was Dad. I picked it up immediately.

" hey Dad," I said

" I'm on my way to your office now," he said and ended the call. That man would be the death of me. I'm sure he is here to scold me about the same thing. I'm sure he wants to put some sense in me as he always calls it. It s funny how Dad wants to see me get married when he knows damn well that the women now don't want love. All they care about is money.

Finally enough he is in support of me getting married to a lady who wants my money. He said I could buy love with money at the end of the day. I know it's absurd of him to say that. I never expected that Dad would want me to do such a thing .'

There was a knock on my door and I was sure it was him. " come in"

The door was opened and Dad walked inside. For sixty years man. He still looks so young and good-looking.

" I knew I'd meet you in your office now," he said when he got inside.

"But dad what are you doing here, aren't you supposed to be at work " I said to him and he waved it off.

"Who cares about work when I'm so eager to be a granddad," he said. I rolled my eyes at him. He won't stop this now.

" I've told you that I don't have anyone now. When I'm ready I'll let you know "

He snorts " I know how you money Hayden. I know you bring in women to your bed but why can't you find one and settle with her "

" non of them interest me," I said to him

" but they interest you to sleep with them " he shot back

"Are you here to talk about my love life or should I say my sex life ?" I asked

Dad rolled his eyes and sat down " I came here to give you an offer " he said

I furrowed my brows confused " What offer is that ?"

" I want to propose something and in return, I want something back," he said with a smirk.

I knew it. I knew he was here cos he needed something. Dad won't be here just because he came to see me, I know it's to get something in return.

"Shoot already," I said ready to hear what he wanted to say.

"There is a business partner of mine that got back to the state. He is also filthy rich and has a lot to offer when it comes to the business world. He brought a proposal to me and I took it."

I raised a brow" So what is this business about ?"

" Remember the Saint Carlos deal ?" He said and I nodded. Saint Carlos deal is one of the big businesses in the states right now. In return, one gets millions of dollars. I've been trying to get that but luck isn't on my side yet. Now that Dad brought it up I think I'm interested but let's see what it's all about.

" what about it ?" I asked

Dad clasped his palms together " I was offered a partnership "

" The freaking hell!" I couldn't resist it "They did what ?"

Dad smiled at me" Yeah I know. I know it's a big deal "

" I'm happy for you " I was happy for him. This deal will make Dad a billionaire. It's one of the best investments right now.

Dad exhaled "The thing is I don't want to take it "

I was confused "What why ?"

" I'm old already and then I have you my son who is also building your brand. I think this deal will make you one of the most influential men on earth "

What?

" I want to give this deal to you but I want something in return," he said and there was this look on his face that I fear the most. I know whatever comes out of Dad, is something I'm not gonna like.

I stared at him with a straight face " What would that be ?"

Dad has a smirk on his face " In return I want you to get married in two weeks"

I almost choke on my saliva " no freaking way!"

He shrugged "It's up to you son. It either you take the over or you lose. "

I can't believe Dad is doing this to me right now " but I don't have anyone in my life at the moment "

"It's not a big deal. I can help you look for " he suggested and I'm not going to take that.

"Not," I said instantly

" thank the ball is in your court. You either find a bride and take the deal or you lose the deal "

" don't I have time to think things through ?" He said

He shook his head " I need answers now. I came with the contract too"

He enough out some papers

"I can't believe you, " I said in disbelief

He smirked " When it comes to business, expect the worst. I've taught you that already so why do you still seem surprised"

I shook my head " for fuck sake. Let me think about it through this night "

Dad shook his head "If I leave this office now, just know that you lost the deal "

I was in disbelief. I was so angry. He knew what this meant to me and was trying to give me just a few minutes to think things through.

I know this is a tough one but I can't let this deal leave me. I need it more than ever cos it would increase my status.

"OK fine. I'll take it "

Dad smiled so wide. He was happy I accepted it "Now you are talking "

He gave me a pen " sign "

I took the pen from him and read through what was written as an agreement. It states that I get married in two weeks and then will be given the deal to the contract.

" I can't believe I get to get married first before I get to sign the real deal "

He chuckled " I wouldn't want to be tricked so it's all on you now "

I shook my head but sighed the damn agreement. I hope I don't regret this. Now I have to start hunting for a bride for fuck sake.
