Chapter 7: Secret Hideout

Chapter Seven

"Hello. How is he?" A male voice asked concerned evident in his voice.

Worriedly, Melissa wiped the tears flowing uncontrollable down her eyes. "I don't know. I am not allowed to see him. Swear! I don't know what to do?" Melissa spoke into the phone with an anonymous person. Her hands clutched the base of the kitchen counter for support. What could she do in a situation like this. Since the apprehension of Johnny, Melissa had been having sleepless night.

She was lost, uncertain of what to do.

"Okay. I will do something about it. Don't worry." He assured.

"I can't help it. It has been two days since Johnny got apprehended, two days since any solid food went down to his stomach. How can I stop getting worried about this?" Her voice broke. " I can't but I will try " Melissa sniffed noisily, to alert the anonymous of her hysterical fit.

"I will do something about it" He assured.

"Thank you!"

The news came as a surprise to Wendy whose mind got occupied with work. Jumping up at the sound of the telephone, Wendy sighed, staring from the piles of work in front of her to the ringing phone. Deciding to silent the noise, she took the phone, clutching it close to her ears.

"Rose Group Company"

"Ma, Mr Johnny has been bailed" the voice informed.

"What?" Wendy literally screamed, rising to her feet. "That is impossible? How many days did he spent in the prison?

"Just two days"

"Damn it! How could he..." Her voice trailed off. Remember, he was a cop, who knows maybe he was a subordinate of Johnny. Deciding to thread cautiously, "never mind. Thanks for the information"

"You are welcome" dropping the phone back, Wendy sighed. Walking away from her seat, she paced to and fro round her office with a baffled expression on her face. What actually happened? Who in hell bailed Johnny? Damn it! Determined to get an answer, Wendy went back to her seat, sat, turned her system towards herself.

Satisfied, Wendy set to hack the prison's system. Clicking on the icon, Wendy successfully hacked the prison system. A grin appeared on her face, she scrolled through the system with a mission. Certain to have found what she had been looking for, Wendy stopped scrolling, pressed the play button.

Leaning on her swivel chair, Wendy relaxed, watched intently at the screen for the information she wants.

A man walked in to the station, without exchanging much words ask for a bail, paid the amount. Moment later, Johnny was brought out like an inmate, his eyes strained towards the detective on duty before leaving. The video ended.

"Damn it" Wendy exclaimed, hitting her fist furiously on the desk. "Who is the bailsman? How dare he interfere in her affairs!" Wendy snarled with gritted teeth. "Tally! You made the wrong choice. No! Tally. Tally. You can't escape my wrath, never."

Wendy mentally saved the name.

Secret Hideout

"What should we do? The bitch has crossed her limit"

Beams of lines illuminated through the roller blind into the hidden, secret room. The room nicely furnished felt more like home. An hideout for their emergency meeting. Four people sat across the room, each with a glass filled with vodka. Their faces contorted in displeasure at certain issues which called for an urgent meeting.

They all had different perspective but aimed towards one goal - the downfall of Wendy.

Dressed like a mafias, they sat silently as the clock ticked away into midnight.

The room was sound proof beneath an underground, six feet below the earth in an orphanage building. The building proudly sponsored by one of the men was designed with an hideout at the back of their mind. Just like a suspected two days pregnancy, none suspected that a charitable home like this could be an hideout for criminals.

"What do you suggest we do concerning the alarming issues at hand?" Another voice spoke in the silent night supporting the first statement.

"I won't suggest we sit tight, watch, while she ruined our reputation. No! I will never suggest that" Paul spoke up, baring his mind.

"If you have any suggestion, let's spill it out. I mean we are fucking here to deliberate on this issues and probably find a solution to it before it is too late right?" Paul stopped, looking across the dim light at the faces of his relatives.

At a nod from each and everyone of them, he continued. "We can't and we won't achieve the aim of today, if we don't air out our mind, thought and feelings. You don't have to expect me," He placed an hand to his chest. "To know what is going on in your mind, your thought and feelings. For fuck sake, I am not a spirit! Never will be one. So please spill everything out, lay it bare on the table!" He concluded.

"Well, for me. I suggest Wendy should be dealt with specially" Julia suggested, glancing at her relatives for their thought, view of her suggestion.

"I assure you Julia, the plans won't work" Melissa advised. "Do you know the sort of things we had planned for Wendy, still, she always ended up overcoming it. Can you count the numbers of people we sent to deal with her? She always ended up escaping. The last draw that broke the carmel's back was when she fought highly trained Mafias. Have you heard of "the scorpion?" Melissa question.

"Yeah. I mean who doesn't know about the most dangerous Mafia nationally?" Julia rolled an eye.

"Well, it might interest you to know that we sent those Mafias after Wendy. More like an ambushed with over eleven well trained, able bodied men. But guessed what happened?"

Paul, Julia stared with much interest. Intrigued by the news.

"Wendy, single handedly dealt with the eleven men, including the leader. She burst the balls of five men with a kick, those men were admitted in an hospital but unfortunately lost their lives. Wendy killed one man with a plank, hit mightily on his head, as we speak, the man died on the spot. Not enough, Wendy injured the seven remaining guys"

"What?" Julia exclaimed in shocked.

"The leader managed to survived it but vowed never to get entangled in anything concerning Wendy Wilfred" Melissa concluded.

"Like seriously? How in heaven sake did she get all the skills from?" Paul asked quietly amazed by the wonder woman.

"That's what we don't understand" a moment later Melissa admitted. "Wendy is more like James Bond. Swear! I am scared of her" unable to keep it in anymore, Melissa rose on her feet, gulped down everything in her glass.

"I don't understand anymore. Wendy of today is different from the weak Wendy who later went into an hide out. I am even afraid of plotting against her because I am truly certain it won't work. It never does, no matter how hard we tried" she ran a hand over her hair in utter frustration.

"Swear! I feel like stabbing Wendy in her sleeps but even the thought of it scares the living daylight out of me. Thought like - what if she awoke, turned the dagger towards me. What if she doesn't end up dying" Melissa's voice pitched with intense emotions as she stood close to the roller blind.

"It is like a fluid of immortality has been injected into Wendy's system, making it absolutely difficult for any mortal to hurt or cause her harm of any sort" Melissa spoke while moving away from the roller blind, pacing aimlessly round the room. Her hands moving slightly over the rim of her glass.

"Come on, Melissa. Have you realized that your entire energy is directed towards the negative side and not the positive? Recall this: it is what you believe that works for you. If you choose to let fear dwell in your heart, swear! You will never move an inch forward because of "fear".

"We are not cowards Melissa. For the fact that you planned, it failed, doesn't make you a failure. It just mean you didn't use the right strategy" Paul advised. "Consider, Michael Faraday, he tried countless time but still ended up failing. Do you think his failures were enough reason to give up? No! It gave him a reason to try harder, a reason to re-strategize"

Paul stopped speaking, glanced at Melissa and Johnny, gulped down his drinks. "If the first strategy failed, then re-strategize it! Re-plan. You will definitely get her pinned. But if you stopped, you loose" he shrugged.

Thinking deep about Paul's statement, Melissa saw the light at the end of a tunnel.

"What should we do?"

"Better! Sit" he ordered.

"First, we will re-strategize our plans. If the first tactic didn't work. We will use a tactic she doesn't expect from us." A wicked glint light his eyes as he stared dreamily into space.
