The talk

(Gabriel)

“What the fuck is your problem?” I asked Olivia as soon as I made it to the dressing room. Olivia scowled at me, thinking that it would come off as scary, but to be honest, it was far from that. “Problem? I don't have any.” Olivia replied as if she had no idea what I was talking about. She made a move to walk away, but I grabbed her hand, stopping her.

“You are not dancing, you were employed for one reason, don't make me regret it.” I threatened, but it didn't work on her. What can I say? Olivia was like a sister to me, I allowed her to work here because she wanted to find a way out of the pack and gain her freedom. She didn't need money, so I could fire her and she would be alright.

“I am a great dancer! Why should I waste my talent and do something that I don't like?” She pouted while batting her eyes at me, that shit won't work on me. Ever.

“You're not dancing, end of story. Now change that shit that you have on and go do what you're originally here for.” I told her in a final tone. She saw that I was serious and sighed.

“Fine. Oh, I almost forgot. My friend is visiting and needs a job. Do you have any vacancies?” Now that she mentioned that.

“Yeah, I require someone to clean for me. Harriet is going on about how old she is and whatnot, so I require someone to help her out. Do you think your friend might want that job?”I asked, not really giving a damn at this point. Olivia scoffed while rolling her eyes.

“Low ass job, but I guess she'll take it. Leah doesn't care where she's working if it's making her some bucks, I guess.” I nodded my head after she said that.

“I'm leaving, oh, and Olivia?” She turned to look at me with wide eyes, as if she could sense the threat that I'm about to deliver.

“Next time you go against my orders, I will give you a suitable punishment. I'm not just your boss, but your alpha as well. If I leave someone in charge, make sure to follow their order.” That had her scowling at me, but I paid it no mind and left. Now, I have one more person to deal with, and that's Slade. I don't know what's wrong with him, but it seems as if something happened to him for him to act that way. I still remember when Slade showed up at my club, he didn't ask for a job, more like demanded it. Furthermore, I didn't take offense to it because I needed someone who could take care of themselves. Likewise, I hadn't run any background checks on Slade, I just went with my guts. But now, I'm questioning whether I should have done that or not. After calling Slade to my office, we were now sitting down, while I was trying to figure out what the fuck is problem was. I took out a cigarette and lit it, then took a considerable pull before talking.

“It came to my attention that some of my club members are afraid of you. I'm not asking much of you, just for you to stop beating the crap out of anyone you don't like. You killed Viktor because of something he said, I can't have you running my club like it's the mafia.” Slade looked away after I finished talking. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair.

“People irritate me. I hate them all, so what better way to keep them away than what I'm doing?” Slade replied, making me frown.

“Not everyone is the same, and you know it. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you, but you can't keep going on like this.” Now it was my turn to get angry. It's as if Slade could tell that I'm serious because he didn't say anything else. I could sense murder coming off him in waves, but if he wanted to fight me, it would be the last thing he could think of. As a werewolf, I had super-human strength and speed that couldn't be challenged. It was not my intention to hurt my crew, but if it came to defending myself, I would have no other choice but to.

“You wouldn't understand,” Slade said, after a moment of silence.

“I wouldn't understand what?” I asked, desperate to know more about him. This was the first time I heard him being so vulnerable, he never opened up to anyone before, which had me thinking that something or someone made him this way.

“You know what? It's nothing, forget about it. Can I go now, or do you want to continue to lecture me?” I sighed, knowing that I was back to square one with him. Maybe one day, I'll get him to talk.

“You can go and Slade?” He then gave me his full attention.

“Fuck around one more time, and I'm going to suspend you.” He rolled his eyes as if he didn't care and got up and left. So much for talking to him. I was already tired and in need of good sleep. I had to check on Jared to make sure that he was ok, but that has to wait until tomorrow. I couldn't function when I was tired, it feels as if I would lose my mind if I didn't rest for a while. 'That's only because you're old.' Alaric said, as a joke.

'I'm not old, I'm just overworked. You need to rest up a bit too, we have to visit Jared and the pack tomorrow, plus I want us to go for a run. It's been a while since I've done that.' That made Alaric excited. I wasn't concerned about running, but I had to let my wolf out now and then. Whenever he's cooped up for too long, he would start acting out, and that's something that I didn't have the time for. When I made it to my room, I got on my bed and closed my eyes, letting sleep consume me right away.
