Ryan and Lucas jolted to the room where she was
Ryan went to her while Lucas stood at the doorside "What's wrong miss, where does it hurt"
She pointed to her head and throat
"That's a given considering the fact that you forced out a sound despite having laryngitis. And for the head ache? Did you remember something before you blacked out?"
She nodded and shook her head
"..."
"Oh, my bad. I forgot that you can't speak. Apologies" Ryan sincerely apologized
She nodded
"Making a sound is a huge step in regaining your voice. We're going to be doing a lot of vocal exercises to help fasten the recovery but for the mean time, I'll reckon you rest as much as you can and don't stress yourself in any way. I'll prescribe some drugs that'll help with the process"
She took the book and pen next to the bed she was seating and wrote "thank you" on it and handed it to Ryan
He read it and smiled gently "It's my duty miss"
Alright then, we'll leave you to rest.
She glanced at Lucas expecting him to say something, anything at all but he didn't. He appeared as though he was watching a boring television show
They all left the room so she could rest
When they got downstairs, Ryan bid him farewell as he had an appointment to attend while Lucas went to his working room.
The light illuminating from the small space between the curtains lingered on her face. She stretched her arms and legs. That was the best sleep of her life. She stood up, unsure of what to do. That wasn't her house anyway. She hovered her mouth with her left hand and blew a breath
"Eeeew, so disgusting" She thought. Her breath stank
She looked around the room and found a door she suspected to be the bathroom's. She went in and Holy Molly, she was once again flabbergasted. The whole of the bathroom was bigger than anywhere she has ever stayed. There were new sets of brush, toothpastes, neatly folded towels, body lotions, shampoo, shower gels and even things she didn't know of.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror. "What an horrendous sight" she thought. Her hair was dishelved, her skin was pale, there was dried drool at the corner of her mouth, she looked akin to a zombie. And worst of all, she stank. She wondered how those people were able to stay in the same room as her.
She brushed her teeth thrice , attempting to restore its whiteness. She even used a mouth wash for the first time. She bathed for a very long time. When she got out of the bathroom, she went to the ceiling - floor mirror and took a good look at her full view.
She always used to avoid looking at her reflection. She knew she looked miserable. And right that instant, she felt nothing but pity for herself. She looked at her body that was almost all bones and the scars on her body that she got from trying to navigate living on the streets
She went to the dressing mirror, took one of the lotions there and applied on her skin. She was neither fair nor dark. She went to the wardrobe and saw bunch of clothes there. She wondered when she'll stop being surprised at anything in that house. "The rich ones are lucky" she thought
She rummaged through the clothes until she found a simple loose top and trouser that was a perfect fit for her. She packed her hair in a loose bin.
"At least now I don't look like an homeless kid"
The aroma of delicacies hit her nose. Her tummy started to churn, it wasn't until then she realised she hasn't eaten for two days. She went downstairs following where the aroma led her.
Immediately she got down the stairs, she saw Lucas on the far end of the dinning, he was eating eloquently. He took small bites, chewed ever so gently and wiped his mouth with the napkin next to his plate every now and then. He was so prim and proper, his every expression gave out his aristocracy. And the way he sipped water, perfect!
She was so lost in that picturesque view that she didn't realise she has been staring at him for quite a while
Instinctively, Lucas raised his head and saw her staring. He wiped his mouth with the napkin and left almost immediately
Rude!!! Hmph!!!
