Chapter 4

The day when the group from headquarters came to inspect came.

As the project leader, I stood at the front alongside Luke to greet them.

Leading the group was a man in a trench coat, standing tall at six feet three inches, with a stern face that exuded an overwhelming presence.

"Neil, you're here." Luke stepped forward to greet him, his face a mix of reluctance and eagerness.

So, this was Neil.

"Let's start the meeting immediately."

Getting straight to the point, Neil led everyone into the conference room.

Facing the eyes of the two rows of people below, Luke stumbled through his explanation of the project plans from the past year.

These were projects I was in charge of while he spent his days networking at Blueprint, naturally leaving his account full of mistakes.

Neil furrowed his brow and promptly asked Luke to step down.

"Where's the project manager? Let the manager explain."

This was undoubtedly a denial of Luke's capabilities.

Below, Luke's face turned an unsightly shade of dismay.

Always priding himself as the true heir of the White family, Luke hated nothing more than losing face in front of Neil.

Holding the documents in my hands, I took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"The projects over the past year focused on unmanned drone electronics models..."

I handled the projects from start to finish, so I knew every detail. Besides, I had fully prepared the presentation.

I responded smoothly to the few questions Neil raised.

Gradually, Neil's expression softened.

"Did you make the PowerPoint presentation yourself?"

Neil looked up at me.

I was about to nod when Luke suddenly interjected.

"Neil, she's just my subordinate. I did it."

So, I held my tongue.

I knew this was just his way of salvaging some dignity, not wanting to look too defeated.

"Call me ‘Mr. White’ during work hours."

"Yes... Mr. White."

Watching Luke's face contorted with reluctant endurance, I suddenly felt uneasy.

For the first time, I questioned whether coming to Blueprint Industries to help Luke was the right decision.
