Chapter One
A girl dropped on her knees as a great sob escaped her, and she covered her face with shaking hands. With thunders striking now and then outside the window, the girl cried her heart out.
After an hour or so, she stood up and walked into the washroom and looked at her dishevelled look in the mirror. She was looking like nothing but a mess, a broken person with hundreds of pain instilled in her heart.
Swollen eyes, Red face, smudged Kajal, quivering lips, she was a mess.
Turning on the tap, she splashed a handful of water on her face several times before wiping it off cleanly with a towel. With a long sigh, she switched off all the lights and walked out of the house without taking an umbrella with her.
'I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.' Once said by a great personality, was mirroring her own emotions.
Walking into Block C, she took a deep breath and knocked on the door before composing herself with a smile, not reaching her face at all just before the door opened.
"Nithya? what are you doing here at this time?" asked a girl with worry.
"Sorry to disturb you at this time, Priya," said Nithya.
"Disturbance? You are talking much now." Priya looked at her with narrowed eyes.
Nithya gave her an artificial smile.
"Were you crying?" she asked, noticing her red, swollen eyes.
"Er... no. The water droplets got splashed into my eyes, that's why it has gone red." said Nithya faking a smile.
"Nice excuse, Nithya." Priya said in a stern voice.
"Wow! What a surprise Nithya? You here at this time?" Came a voice from behind.
"Um... Hi Lavanya! Sorry to disturb you at this late hour."
"Don't be so formal yaar. Come on in!" saying so she dragged her in and made themselves comfortable on a sofa.
"Would you like to have a cup of hot chocolate by the time you get changed? You are quite drenched." Priya asked.
"It's ok Priya. I am anyway leaving in some time."
"Stupid! You could have called us, what was the need to come here all alone without an Umbrella that too in dark? Here, dry yourself or else you will catch cold." Lavanya scolded her as she grabbed a towel from the stand and passed it to her.
"Lavanya!" Priya shot her a glare.
"What?" She shrugged.
"You are incorrigible. She's upset already and you are not at all helping her at this moment."
"Upset why?" She frowned and looked at Nithya, whose face was red and eyes a bit swollen. "Hey, Were you crying? Lavanya asked, cupping her cheeks.
"Nothing serious, I was just… missing my parents.” said Nithya, meekly wiping her face clean with the towel.
“Oh really? Will you mind telling us the truth?” Said Lavanya crossing her arms below her chest, almost glaring at her.
"Okay okay! Actually I… I came to visit you guys for the last time before leaving for Mumbai." She said softly, looking down all the time.
"Mumbai? But why?" Lavanya asked, completely shocked.
"I am shifting, La."
"Why shifting all of a sudden when you had almost canceled it?" Priya asked in utter confusion and looked up at Nithya for answers but she stayed mum.
"Wait for a second..." Lavanya whispered as she gave knowing glances to Priya, whose eyes widened in realization.
"She insulted you again?"
"Is she back?"
Both Priya and Lavanya asked her at the same time.
Nithya sighed softly and nodded her head.
"How dare she?" Lavanya gritted her teeth in rage.
