Chapter 2

The following afternoon, Aiden opened his eyes to see Roxanne asleep beside him. He rolled over and placed a kiss on her shoulder, as he thought back to the past day and the evening before. They spent the entire time getting to know each other and mating.

This girl is perfect, she would make a great Luna, hopefully, she will agree to go home with him and take the position that is rightfully hers.

He thought as he lay there in the middle of an internal battle with himself. He was scared to ask her to go home with him tomorrow for the party; for the first time in his life, he was worried about what this girl wanted and thought. When she opened her eyes, rolled over, and gave him a peck on the lips.

“Good Morning, did you sleep well?”

He smiled in adoration at his mate; he couldn’t believe how lucky he was. “I did I hope you did as well,” he answered as he kissed her. She nodded in affirmation as a sly twinkle sparked in her eye. He knew what she had in mind, but first, he needed to discuss the whole going home thing with her. Aiden cleared his throat and looked at her seriously. “I need to head back to my pack tonight, tomorrow is my graduation party and my parents are demanding I be there. My question to you is would you like to join me? It will give our pack plenty of time to meet their new Luna before I am promoted to Alpha in a few weeks.”

Her eyes grew wide in surprise and she rolled over on her back and stared blankly at the ceiling. Finally, after a few minutes of internal debating with herself on whether or not she would go, she rolled back over to face him. “I’d love to go back with you,” she answered as she climbed on top of him and kissed him passionately.

Aiden smiled into the kiss, wrapped her up, and decided to live for the moment.

Darkness took over the sky as Roxanne and Aiden crossed the border of the New Dawn Pack, Aiden smiled and waved at the border guards as he continued to drive through. He parked the car outside of the pack house, got out of the car, and walked over to the passenger side. He helped Roxanne out of the car and tightly gripped her hand as he walked her into the pack house. His parents and a few pack members had gathered in the vestibule to await their arrival and cheered when they entered. The surprise and excitement were apparent when they all realized that he had found his mate. Aiden clutched Roxanne’s hand as he walked her up to the Alpha and Luna, after he gave his mother a hug he quickly pulled her to stand beside him. “Mom, Dad, this is Roxanne Messick, my mate. Roxanne these are my parents, Alpha Jonathan and Luna Mary Lockhart.”

Roxanne released Aiden’s hand and firmly shook the Alpha’s hand, and then was whisked up into a hug by the Luna. “It is so nice to meet you both, I’ve heard a lot about you all,” she said as she smiled and looked around at the pack members.

Mary smiled at the manners her son’s mate possessed; she knew Roxanne was a keeper. She smiled at them both and ushered them into the kitchen. “How about we all come to sit down for dinner and then you two can go get some rest. Remember, tomorrow is the big party a perfect time for everyone to meet Roxanne. You can take her shopping for a nice dress if you would like in the morning.”

“That sounds great, Mom,” Aiden replied as he clasped Roxanne’s hand and led her into the dining room.

Dinner went off without a hitch, and the family and members of the New Dawn Pack got to learn everything they could about their future Luna. Roxanne was not shy; she was extremely open about her life. They learned that she was from the Crescent Moon pack and she followed in her parent’s footsteps as a Warrior. She had a younger brother who had graduated college that same day. They also learned that she raised her brother when her parents were killed in a Rogue attack when he was 6.

The conversation lasted through dinner, dessert, and a few glasses of wine later. Finally, Aiden looked at the clock and realized that it was almost eleven o’clock. He decided it was time for them to turn in and get some rest; they had a long day tomorrow. He walked Roxanne up to his room and smiled about how his life had changed. He couldn’t help but think that his life is finally starting to fall into place. He sent her a charming smile as he opened the door for her. They entered the room and he went into his closet and grabbed a shirt and a pair of shorts for her to wear to sleep. “Would you like to shower before bed?”

“Yes please,” she shyly responded as she walked toward the bathroom.

Aiden chuckled at her sudden shyness and chalked it up to her being new to his pack. He shook his head at the cuteness of the situation. He walked into one of the guest bathrooms and took a quick shower himself. Once he was finished and dressed he went back into his room and lay down on the bed. The realization that Roxanne was still in the shower crossed his mind so he closed his eyes to help him relax.

The rising sun brightened the room through the pulled curtains, and the sun's beams shined right into his eyes. The light reflecting into his eyes was bright enough to wake Aiden from a peaceful slumber. He opened his eyes and realized that he was in his bedroom alone. “I guess I didn’t realize how tired I was,” he chuckled to himself as he rolled his eyes. He jumped out of bed, quickly dressed, and decided that he would head towards the kitchen in an attempt to find Roxanne. Aiden descended the stairs and the soft voice of his mate reached his ears. The sound was coming from a few rooms over.

He walked into the dining room and noticed Roxanne, his mother, and his father discussing their day over a cup of coffee and breakfast. He smiled in pride at how well his mate was fitting in, and quietly entered the room placing a kiss on her head. “Good morning everyone, I trust you all slept well,” he said as he walked over to grab a plate of food.

“Good morning sleepyhead,” Roxanne said with a smile.

“Aiden, will you be taking Roxanne shopping today for a dress for tonight?” His mother asked in concern.

“Yes, mom that is the plan. Why, was there something you needed?”

“Not at all dearest, I just wanted to give you this.” Mary smiled as she handed him the pack credit card, then turned to Roxanne. “Pick out a few things, after all, you are now family,” she said as she sent a wink toward the blushing girl.

A smile covered Roxanne’s lips and she looked at Mary in sheer gratitude. “Thank you so much, Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart. I will make sure I pick up something extremely tasteful and proper for tonight. “What kind of dress should I be looking for?”

“It is a barbeque-style party for the graduate over there, so anything cool enough for you to wear outside a few hours,” Mary answered with a smile.

“Speaking of barbeque, if we don’t go now, we will never get back in time,” Aiden informed his mate as he wiped his mouth and stood to his feet. He reached his hand out to help Roxanne out of her chair, and they walked hand in hand to the garage where his car waited. Aiden opened the door for her and once she was seated he jogged over to his seat. He started the car and they drove to the mall. The ride was peaceful and entertaining as they both listened to music and sang along. They both giggled and laughed at each other when they messed up the words to the songs but it was still a great trip.

Once they reached the mall they exited the car and started their long day in the mall. Roxanne dragged him through almost every store in the mall and made him watch as she tried on numerous outfits. Everything she wanted, he bought for her in an effort to help make her transition to his pack easier for her. Finally, she chose to try on a dress for the barbeque. The dress was an emerald green wrap-around V-neck with fluttering sleeves. The bottom was a sweeping midi skirt that cut off a few inches above the knee. The dress fit her perfectly, so she decided to buy that one and paired it with a pair of black sparkly sandals and a black choker.

Aiden went to load the things into the car as she quickly got a trim on her hair and bought some makeup and accessories for her evening of meeting the pack. When she was finally finished getting the things she wanted, Aiden realized that he had spent thousands of dollars on the pack credit card. Unsure as to how he would tell his parents; he decided to wait until later to worry about that. They then headed back to the pack house to get ready for the barbeque. Showered, and shaved, Aiden dressed in a pair of khaki shorts, an emerald green polo, and a pair of loafers. He then walked next door to the room Roxanne was getting ready in and nearly fell over at the sight of his mate.

“You look like an angel,” he gushed as she twirled showing him the entire outfit. Roxanne blushed at his compliment, she grabbed his awaiting hand, and they walked outside together.

They walked out of the pack house to the party that was happening in the backyard, their jaws dropped at the event that his mother had put together. There were tents filled with food and drinks supervised by a few of the Omegas that were scheduled shifts through the evening. They served the guests with a smile and had their own share of enjoyment for the pack party. The backyard was decorated with balloons and a large sign that read: Congratulations Aiden.

Aiden and Roxanne walked hand in hand around the backyard and continued to greet their guests. Eventually, they made their way to David who was wrapped up in a conversation with a few of the Warriors. “Hey Lock, I am going to assume that this is the famous Roxanne,” he said as he flashed a charming smile to the blushing girl.

“Roxanne this is my best friend David Monroe, he will be our Beta once I take over the pack.”

David shook her hand and looked at her strangely. The way her eyes flashed some strange emotion when Aiden said that gave him reason to pause. He shrugged it off and chalked it up to nerves, and smiled at her. “Welcome to the New Dawn Pack, we are a fun bunch I swear, you are mated to the most boring of us all.”

Roxanne giggled and released David’s hand, she wrapped her arm around Aiden, then placed a kiss on his cheek. As she opened her mouth to answer David, a loud scream came from the outside of the party.
